Speaking of which, these past nine months have been full of changes. There's the obvious: the kid, the house, leaving the city...But other fixtures in my (former) life are also transitioning out. Bear (my dog), who was a loyal friend for almost 11 years, is gone.
My car, which I've had almost as long, is about to die. There's this weird vibration when we drive it over 60 mph; it needs transmission work; the electrical system is acting up causing the windows to go up only half way. The list goes on. But I love it since I've
And so it is, I'm fully entering into surburban life with a station wagon. G had been on the look out for a good used one (because cars are a money drain, and the best valued ones are previously owned). He found this one for me, and purchased it yesterday. It still needs detailing, as it only came in to the dealership Saturday. We'll pick it up later this week. I haven't even seen it in person. You're probably all wondering if I'm crazy. The fact is, cars are not my thing, and I don't really care just as long as it's safe and will last a long time.
So can I get an air hug? I'm a full-fledged, card-carrying member of suburbia. Station wagon! Whoop!

What make/model is it? H is obsessed with getting a station wagon (we don't even have kids yet!), so I'm always on the lookout for one that I might like as well.
Maya: It's a Mercedes E320 2003. G had been doing a lot of research on these wagons. Apparently, they're really hard to come by. The model years between 2001 and 2003, for those who are into these things, are the years to get, before they changed the body shape. The later models have a lot of electrical problems and smaller cargo space. Also, these are the best value for your money if you can get one with relatively low miles. They're so high quality and built to last. Hope that helps!
I am SO excited for you! I feel like ever since you got married your life has been one high after another - so many changes! As always, I LOVE reading your posts and think you're just totally awesome. :o) *AIR HUG!*
i looooove that car!!! definitely on my wishlist, too. g's awesomeness really knows no bounds, no?
*air hug!*
So much to be excited for in your life. :)
((AIR HUGS))
I'm also really interested in getting a station wagon. I wish more car companies still made them. I think my only options are VW & Audi... if I want new. Anywho, hugs for all the changes.
Our friend in college had a BMW station wagon that his mother had "gifted" him. We called it the grocery getter. The sucker had close to 200k miles and rode like a gem.
I love how husbands research cars. Mine is not all in the "safety" as so much as in the driving experience since we're in them a lot. I love my Audi though.
I feel your pain. I'm looking to trade in my VW New Beetle for a 'family car.'
My husband and I are car shopping right now.
Like you, my current car (a VW New Beetle) is 10 years old and starting to show its age. I really don't want to spend anymore money on it.
We went and looked a a RAV4 and the convertible car seat doesn't fit rear-facing.
We need 4 wheel drive (we have a cabin in the mountains with a steep and rocky 3/4 mile long driveway) and don't want to spend more than $25k.
Used or new, the options seem really limited. Especially because we'd like a 3rd row in case we're ever in a pinch.
We're thinking Outback or Volvo station wagon now.
*air hug*
Congrats on all the changes! My husband has been trying to convince me that we need a larger car with the second baby on the way (right now we have a mid-sized sedan) but I'm not quite there yet. I'm so attached to ours that I refuse to do so until our current one dies!
E wants to get a mini-van. Please talk some sense into him! Love the car. THAT I would agree to.
I looove station wagons! I'm on my second Ford Taurus wagon, and I'm 24 with no kids living in Los Angeles. :) I'm about five years early for "mom in a suburb" but I can't imagine life without a wagon. Our dream wagon is a Cadillac CTS V wagon... but we like to buy used too, so it'll be a few more years before we buy one.
Looks awesome. About 1.5 years ago, we got a Subaru hatchback, which in my world is just like a station wagon- but just City sized. I already know that when we move out of the City and need an upgrade- I want the bigger version. Totally on the same track as you.
yayy for mom cars! :) im soo excited for you and delicious. you will have great adventures in this car! *air hugs*
excellent mommy car, i also went the used certified volvo route and i absolutely love my car. it wasn't a bad price too!
yay! wagon is good since we carry a lot of things with us, baby, baby carrier, baby bag and stuff. Thats ok for as long as it last long.
By the way, nice house indeed girl! Love the white space and interior, happy decorating soon and all the best for the moving. Cheers.
Congrats!!! I love your car! Baby changes everything. I'm in the same boat... moving farther out to semi-suburbia meant that I had to start driving to work. I ordered my car sight unseeen. Haha. So you're not crazy! But I wish I had checked for cargo space. Mine is too small for all that baby gear.
*groan* Really, P? Suburbs and the Mommy Mobile?
I kid. You have enough style to rock anything, with wheels or not. Stay stylish in the suburbs!
Oh yeah, used or not, the important thing for a car is that it's safe to drive and that it would last a long time. Looks are good too, of course, and so far that car is indeed looking nice! Congrats on that new car in the suburbs!
