Eight Months: Almost There!

Good morning!

Delicious is eight months old today! He's so close to crawling and walking...at once! He loves to tuck his knees under his belly and rock back and forth as he tries to reach towards things. He is really confident in the steps he takes as we hold him up by his arms, moving super fast. It's hilarious. All day long, he wants to walk. Anywhere. Everywhere. He pumps his legs when he's in our arms to be let down to go, go, go!

Almost!

I walk fast!

We've also found that he loves picture books, and prefers them to toys. When given the choice, he reaches for the book. It's funny, the only time he sits still is when we read to him. Even funnier, he'll calm down and listen intently if we recite him "Good Night Moon" even without the actual book. Interesting!

 I <3 books!

He also sits fully upright without support now. I seriously contemplated the Bumbo chair, but decided not to get it after all because a) I already bought the Excersaucer and didn't want a redundant item; b) Delicious is very active, and I was scared he'd tip over in it; and c) at 20-something pounds, I think he's too large for it. So we just kept sitting him up in the middle of the bed or floor, spreading his legs into a "V" shape for balance. And in no time, he got the hang of it!

His bottom teeth are almost all the way in, and it looks like the top two will soon come in. He's sleeping through the night, still. But I've heard that the top teeth are very painful, so he may have trouble sleeping in the next few months. Fingers crossed that he'll sleep through it.

The coolest development by far is his ability to imitate! He now shakes his head if we shake our heads. And he's starting to imitate sound like 'kuh'. I was saying "clean, clean, clean" while giving him a bath, and he started saying, "kuh, kuh, kuh." SO NEAT!

What a smartie! Thanks for the update. We ended up getting the Bumbo secondhand and P grew out of quickly due to her luscious thighs. Smart choice not getting one. :)
