You can see the shape of the two front bottom teeth under his gums
Delicious has been waking in the middle of the night on and off for the past couple of months. We suspected it was probably him teething, as he's been drooling like a dog for months now. And sure enough, we saw two teeth trying to break through (it's hard to capture on camera)!
On closer inspection, you can see the teeth (well, only one tooth is visible in this photo) breaking through the surface
I was anticipating a terrible time of it (maybe that's still coming?), but teething has not been horrible. At the risk of sounding like a STFU parent, Delish has a very good disposition. So it's obvious when he's feeling uncomfortable, as he just looks kind of sad and , of course, cries. Yet, he's easily soothed by walking around outside or ceiling fans, just anything distracting. I feel sorry for the little guy because he's also constipated-- maybe from starting solid foods (a subject for another post). Despite the teething pain and the broken poop machine, he still manages smiles and playing.
Note: we have not used Orajel or any Benzocaine products. Apparently, they can be dangerous resulting in a rare but serious condition called methemoglobinemia. So we just give him teething toys and things to chew on.
SMILEstone!

If you wet a baby washcloth and put it in the freezer they just love to gnaw on it.
I'm so glad the teething process hasn't been bad for you guys. With every new tooth my daughter got an ear infection, and she still has more to come!
Mr. Delicious is an absolute doll :)
He is just so adorable! I hope that the entire teething process is this "easy" for him (and you).
awww..the toofless days are over (for now)..no doubt he'll look adorable in his new grill. pinchpinch for my mushmush.
Love. those. cheeeeeeeks!
I can't believe how quickly the time is passing. Teeth! They look so ouchy in the pictures. Hopefully they'll sprout out quickly and painlessly. You go, Mr. Delish!
I'm just going to start calling him Baby Gorgeous! He is so adorable... teething and all. And you're not a STFU parent... some babies are just happy... no shame in that!
Oh my gosh! Teeth already?! Wow, time flies! Congrats on the shiny new chompers, little man!
Time flies!! I can't believe his teeth are coming in already!
Yeah for teeth! (And what a great job you did capturing it in a photo!) I think little P is teething too. We're def not having an easy time over here but I'm genuinely glad that you are! :)
Nashers! Cool. L had an easy time of it too so we considered ourselves lucky, she even seem to cope with the super chunky molars sprouting too (not sure I would). Brilliant photos... again.
So adorable! Pretty soon, he'll have more chompers and enjoy table food.
If you need natural remedies here are a couple...Why not try Hylands Teething Tablets. They do take the edge off a bit. I know this 2nd option is going to turn some heads but Whiskey rubbed on the gums My doctor said yes to that when I asked him if it was ok. You are just rubbing it on the gums so its not like you're giving a shot of it or something. This is a very old school remedy and a lot of Europeans do it as least in my family:)
He's such a cutie. I love his eyes! and his mouth! and his soon to be new teeth!
Adorbs!!! I love the close-up so we can get a good look at his brand new teeth!
Ready to chow, he's growing so fast!
so adorable!! those little teeth are too much :-)
From our experience with HUT's first two teeth - if you can see it coming out of the gums, the hardest part of teething is over! Now enjoy the peaceful baby before the next two come in! ;)
Delish is a doll!
His little teeth are so cute! That first picture of him is adorable too! He looks in awe... and a little scared lol
Thanks, ladies! And thank you Kasia and Mags for your advice--will definitely try!
Aww, that's cute. Those first teeth are always special, along with the first one to fall and the first permanent tooth. So many memories, right? It's a real pleasure for parents to see their kids grow up...
i can recommend these for teething.
our daughter was an absolute nightmare with her teeth until we tried this. she has been wearing it since she was 8 months old and we haven't looked back since. i never take hers off, she sleeps with it on too. i have heard from a few people that take their lo's necklaces off at night and they all say that they still get sleepless nights due to teething. i think that they should be worn 24hrs a day. i feel quite happy that they are not a choking hazard. the necklace has a low breaking strain so if it had to get caught on something(an unlikely occurence) then it would snap. if it were to snap for any reason, each bead has been double knotted on, so that they wouldn't all fall off. i got mine off an Latvian Amber store. it was $15, so not expensive at all.
