We Time

With Delicious' schedule well-established, and our feeling a little more ourselves (i.e. more relaxed), we got in a little "we time" by way of lunch last week. Given that we're still relative newlyweds (two year anniversary at the end of the month), it's important to nurture the relationship.

G and I work just a few blocks from each other downtown. We hadn't been out to a real restaurant, just the two of us, in quite a while. So we met for lunch at one of our favorite spots, Poste. Going out to a nice lunch is one alternative to date night if you can't get away or a sitter! (And it's cheaper than dinner at the same restaurant!)

Completely unrelated sidenote: With the exception of a few key items, most of our clothing is in storage while we're camping at my mom's. We recently rotated items from our closet and the storage facility for the warmer weather, and I pulled out this vintage dress.

You look absolutely stunning -- no one would ever guess you recently had a baby!

I was just going to say, where's any trace of that baby gone to?! Did you transplant any hint of pregnancy weight to Mr Delicious to create those luscious rolls?

You are gorgeous indeed.

Gosh, I wish I looked that good at work-or ever! The dress is amazing and you carry it off effortlessly!

You look stunning and exquisite! I love that you have your own sense of style.
Great tip on the lunch date. Will try this with my hubbie!

You look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! Wowza! I'm glad you had some time with the hubs. I worry that my marriage with my hubs will change too much (you know, being very newlywed, not establishing ourselves as a married couple, etc.) and hope that we can find time after the baby comes to hang out.

I love Poste! Had drinks there for my DC bachelorette party last summer.

Motherhood clearly agrees with you!

Uhm, I'm going to need you to stop being so damn cute. You realize that you JUST had a baby, right?! ;)

You guys are SO generous and sweet! Thanks for your sweet words.

So to let you know, billowy dresses are a girl's best friend post-pregnancy. The truth be told, I am still up 10 pounds. And many of my pants don't fit.

They say that your body changes and you carry weight differently after having a baby. It's true. Though the lower part of my limbs are back to normal, I'm carrying much more fat in my upper arms, thighs, and midsection. Speaking of which, my hips and waist are a good two inches wider than before the baby and they will likely never go back (the hips).

With regard to the baby fat deposits, it's going to take time (and I haven't found it yet for excercise) and more of the same billowy dressing.

The key is to show off assets and camoflouge "liabilities". And with this outfit, I hiked my belt up high to the smallest part of my waist, which is now my ribs, and the fuller drape of the skirt and length of the sleeves help to put focus on the "back to normal" part of my limbs while covering up the rest.

And that ends my meditation on post-baby dressing. Again, thanks so much for your encouraging words! You guys are the best.

Mrs P, you're an absolute doll. That's wonderful you and G are able to meet for lunch. When you get to see your Mr mid day, doesn't it feel as though the day goes by faster?
